Today was a learning day, Jos took Rob and I into Rotterdam to show us the transit system, buy a chipkaart, and see where the Rotterdam School of Management was on the Erasmus campus.
Rob and I ended up sleeping in a little this morning, which was needed, I think. After lunch with Jos and Anne (Aged Gouda... how I love you), we headed out with Jos to grab the train from Rijswijk to Rotterdam. Of course, since the transit is on the summer schedule, the trains only go every 1/2 hour and we just missed it. So, Jos took us to the Library just around the corner and we saw the Art Library, which is this ASTOUNDING idea of a place you can go to borrow and buy art. We met the director, Jacqueline , who explained how they buy art from professional artists and then lend them out to people for months at a time. These borrowers can either "lease to own", so to speak, or rent it for a few months, return it, and get something else.
We didn't have a lot of spare time to stay and look, but I'm going to try to go back and properly look through the art when I have the chance.
We took the train into Rotterdam where we bought our chipkaarts, then took the #7 tram to Erasmus. Although there were no classes and no one was in the area, we found this waiting for Rob:
And he even had mail. Pretty cool.
And Rob bought a really nice jacket when we got back home to Rijswijk.
The end
Tara, perhaps you could store some "Gouda cheese" in Roberts "file drawer" for cureing?
